Bima Vahak
Bima Vahak is IRDAI's proposed grassroots, largely women-led distribution channel to take insurance to every Gram Panchayat in India.
As the distribution leg of the Bima Trinity, Bima Vahak aims to deploy local representatives, with an emphasis on women, in villages to build awareness, enrol customers and help with servicing and claims, addressing the trust and access gap in rural insurance.
Working alongside Bima Vistaar (the product) and Bima Sugam (the platform), Bima Vahak is central to IRDAI's strategy of last-mile reach. By embedding insurance representatives within communities, it seeks to overcome the low penetration that has long characterised rural India.
