Conversational Payments (UPI)

Conversational payments let users initiate and complete UPI transactions through voice or chat-based AI interfaces in natural language, including in regional languages.

Conversational payments (such as NPCI's voice-enabled UPI initiatives) let users pay by speaking or chatting with an AI assistant, which interprets the instruction and guides the transaction, often in regional languages.

This lowers the barrier for users who find app navigation difficult, extending digital payments to less tech-savvy and vernacular users. Authentication (UPI PIN) still secures the actual debit.

It is part of the broader push to make UPI accessible and inclusive, complementing feature-phone and offline modes like UPI123Pay and UPI Lite X.
