Form 16A

Form 16A is a TDS certificate for income other than salary, such as interest, rent or professional fees.

Form 16A is the TDS certificate for non-salary income. Banks issue it for TDS deducted on FD/deposit interest, tenants or companies issue it for TDS on rent or professional payments, and so on. It is the non-salary counterpart to Form 16.

It details the nature of payment, the amount paid, and the TDS deducted and deposited against your PAN. The figures should reconcile with your Form 26AS and AIS when you file your return.

Keeping all your Form 16As helps ensure you claim the correct TDS credit and report all income. Any mismatch between the certificate and Form 26AS should be sorted out with the deductor.
