Gross Loan Portfolio (GLP)

Gross Loan Portfolio is the total outstanding principal of all loans of a microfinance lender or NBFC, a standard measure of its lending scale.

GLP is widely used to size microfinance lenders and small NBFCs, capturing the full principal owed by borrowers regardless of which entity holds it after assignment or securitisation. It is the sector's headline growth metric.

For an MFI, GLP growth shows reach and momentum, but it must be read with portfolio-at-risk and credit cost to judge quality. Industry bodies like MFIN report aggregate GLP to track the health and concentration of the Indian microfinance sector.
