NABARD
NABARD is the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development, the apex development financial institution for agriculture and the rural economy.
NABARD provides refinance to cooperative banks, regional rural banks and other rural lenders, funds rural infrastructure, and supports agriculture and allied activities. It plays a central role in channelling credit to farmers and rural enterprises.
It administers funds for irrigation, warehousing and rural roads, promotes self-help groups and financial inclusion, and supervises cooperative and regional rural banks. As a development finance institution, NABARD bridges the gap between policy goals for rural India and on-the-ground credit delivery.
