Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to visit two important countries in July 2025—first the United Kingdom and then the Maldives. These visits are very important for India’s foreign policy, focusing on improving trade, building stronger partnerships, and increasing regional security.

Modi will be in the UK from July 23 to 24. The most important part of this trip is the expected signing of the long-awaited Free Trade Agreement (FTA) between India and the UK. This deal is a big step to improve trade and investment between the two countries. Modi will meet the UK’s new Prime Minister, Keir Starmer, to discuss many important topics like the economy, defence, climate change, education, technology, and better people-to-people ties. The two leaders will also talk about how to make their Comprehensive Strategic Partnership stronger. Modi will also meet King Charles III during this visit. This will be Modi’s fourth visit to the UK as Prime Minister.

After finishing his UK visit, Modi will go to the Maldives from July 25 to 26. This is an important trip because it will be the first visit by a foreign leader since President Mohamed Muizzu became President. It will also be Modi’s third visit to the Maldives as Prime Minister. Modi and President Muizzu will talk about the progress of the India–Maldives Joint Vision. This is a special agreement between the two countries to improve security, sea protection, trade, and infrastructure development. The agreement was created when Muizzu visited India in October 2024.

These two visits show how India is becoming more active in the world. They also highlight India’s focus on building global friendships and protecting its strategic role in the Indian Ocean region.
