Mahindra XEV 9S Debuts With 3-Row Seating, Fast Charging, and 500 km Range

Mahindra & Mahindra launched the XEV 9S, a 7-seater electric SUV, on 27 November 2025, built on its dedicated EV INGLO platform. The company aims to make 3 row EVs accessible to the mass market in India. Prices start at ₹19.95 lakh for the base 59 kWh variant, with top variants reaching ₹29.45 lakh, and multiple battery pack options of 59 kWh, 70 kWh, and 79 kWh. Bookings open on 14 January 2026, and deliveries are scheduled to start on 23 January 2026.

The performance of the XEV 9S is notable, with top variants producing up to 180 kW power, 380 Nm torque, and accelerating from 0–100 km/h in around 7 seconds. The top speed is electronically limited to 202 km/h, and Mahindra claims a real-world range of ~500 km, depending on the variant. All models support fast DC charging up to 175 kW, allowing shorter recharge times.

Inside, the SUV focuses on comfort and tech. It has a spacious 3-row cabin, a triple-screen dashboard with a central infotainment display, and rear entertainment screens for back-seat passengers. Comfort features include sliding and reclining second-row seats, a panoramic sunroof, ventilated seats, and multiple climate modes. Higher trims offer premium upholstery, ambient lighting, and advanced audio and convenience features, making it family-friendly and suitable for long rides.

Mahindra positions the XEV 9S as a mass-market EV, aiming to democratize 3-row electric SUVs for Indian families, rather than limiting such models to premium buyers. Test drives are expected to begin around 5 December 2025. Its competitive pricing, multiple battery options, and tech-rich interior give buyers flexibility for city commuting or long trips.

Potential challenges include real-world battery performance, charging infrastructure availability, and service & maintenance support, which will influence ownership experience. If Mahindra delivers on its claims, the XEV 9S could open up the 3 row EV segment to a wider audience, significantly impacting family EV adoption in India.
