Definition
AMFI
AMFI is the Association of Mutual Funds in India, the industry body for asset management companies that sets standards and promotes investor awareness.
AMFI represents SEBI-registered mutual funds, working to develop the industry on professional and ethical lines. It registers and regulates mutual fund distributors through the ARN system, publishes industry data, and standardises practices across fund houses.
Its well-known 'Mutual Funds Sahi Hai' campaigns have driven retail awareness and SIP adoption. While SEBI is the statutory regulator, AMFI functions as a self-regulatory and coordinating body that complements regulation with industry-led standards and investor education.
